About What a Heart Can Hold

I'm Jan Krause Greene - writer, peace activist and lover of the earth. I formed my opinions about life at an early age and they haven't really changed much since then - I believe war does not create lasting solutions, love will be the real revolution, and the human heart can expand until it holds love for the whole world. I have been a teacher, a newspaper columnist, a bank teller, a house cleaner, an executive director of a non-profit dedicated to education advocacy, a diversity trainer, AIDS activist, a group facilitator, and a waitress. Whatever it took to raise 5 kids and remain true to my values. I can't carry a tune, but I love to sing and don't know any steps, but I love to dance!

    I can’t carry a tune or a tray of anything without dropping it so I’ve never been a waitress but otherwise our careers are remarkably similar. I love your values and your writing. You have a beautiful heart.

    Thanks! I hope to get to know you better through your blog. So far, I like you a lot. Wouldn’t it be interesting to compare careers sometime. I have had so many different jobs, but I liked something about each of them,,,,except for when I worked in the glove department of a major department store back in the ’70s….boooringggg!

      The feeling is absolutely mutual … especially as you can cope with my profanity (said in a quiet hopeful whisper), which I think is a backlash to my having to be doubly ‘proper’ raisin a two year old in the Bible Belt and being English and cursed to bear the weight of the American expectation that I sound like the Queen. I don’t. And that’s three things so cannot possibly be a ‘double’. Which brings me to my worst job … straight from school into a bank. Cashier too. Absolutely a square peg in a round hole and not just because I can’t even count to three! It would be fun to compare …. we’d have to be nice and constructive in public and send each other the rest privately lol Oh the stories lol
